Large detached thatched cottage in stunning village location

We are very fortunate to have a large detached thatched cottage in a beautiful village location on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.

The house was built in 2007, so benefits from the comforts of modern day living whilst retaining traditional fetaures and charm.

The heart of the house is the large kitchen/diner with Redfyre range cooker (don`t worry, it also has a built-in electric hob and fan oven). There is a conservatory off this room which provides a lovely bright, light sitting area as well as a fully-equipped utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a separate pantry.

From the entrance hall, there is a downstairs WC and a large triple-aspect sitting room with ample sofa space, a log burner and a piano (in tune and ready to play!).

Upstairs are 2 larger double bedrooms with en-suite bath and shower rooms and 2 smaller single rooms with a shared en-suite shower room.

The house benefits from superfast broadband with good WiFi coverage in all areas. There is a Sonos wireless music system across the ground floor rooms with large Smart TV in the living room. Netflix, Amazon Prime and other streaming services are all available.

Outside is a large garden on 2 levels with summer house on the upper level offering stunning views across the Teign Valley. There is a large gravel driveway with separate detached garage. In the garage there is a table tennis table and plenty of room for parking bikes and other sports equipment. There is a sunny and secluded patio area with table, chairs and parasol, plus a gas-fired barbeque. There are also sun loungers available for relaxing in the garden.

The house is a 20-minute drive from the nearest beach at Teignmouth and a similar distance to Dartmoor. At the top of the hill leading away from the village is Haldon Forest Park where there is a Go Ape tree-top adventure park plus numerous mountain bike and walking trails. There are many other local attractions including Canonteign Falls (5-min drive) and The National Trust`s Castle Drogo Estate (20-min drive). The rest of the South Devon coast and South-East Cornwall are all within an hour`s drive of the house.

There are many walks that can be made straight from the house itself and the village has a traditional pub which serves good food and beer. Exeter city centre and airport are only a 20-minute drive away and the A38 Devon Expressway with links to both the M5 and the Plymouth/Cornwall area is only 10 minutes away.

About the location

South Devon is rightly known for its beautiful coastline and countryside. Our house is perfectly situated to take advantage of everything that the local area has to offer including walking, cycling, horse-riding, mountain biking, surfing, swimming and a host of other outdoor activities.
