Maison Laporte

Sitting on the terrace of the house you can look out onto a stunning and fascinating landscape: facing you is a lava flow from one of the most recent volcanoes (only 7000 years old!) of the Parc Regional des Volcans d`Auvergne. Here you can also observe buzzards, kestrels, red kites (perhaps even a short-toed eagle). From the plateau above the house you can see the Sancy mountain range which includes Mont Dore and Super-Besse where we ski.

The house is a former farmhouse. The living space consists of a living room/dining area/kitchen room with a wood-burner, and a separate scullery containing sink and dishwasher. In the barn is a games room with a small billiard table, table football, darts and loads of books, dvds, board games and puzzles.

There are 3 double bedrooms, 2 with en suite shower rooms, and a large attic bedroom (9m x 7m) with 4 single beds. Baby equipment available (cot, high chair, safety gate). The main bathroom contains bath with shower and there is a toilet by the front door.

Basement with washing machine and room for bikes, skis, sledges and boots.

Outside is a patio with BBQ equipment etc. Parking opposite front door for 3 cars.

We also run the house as a holiday rental so it is NOT available to house swap in peak holiday seasons i.e. July and August. We are often to be found in the barn/stable next door which we are converting to living accommodation for ourselves.

About the location

Fantastic views from the house and patio. Great walking/hiking country in the mountains with lakes and waterfalls. Plenty of outdoor activities such as mountain biking, riding, rock climbing and fishing. There are good adventure parks and a very long zip wire at Super Besse (the ski resort). The regon is popular with French cyclists and has hosted stages of the Tour de France on several occasions.

In the Sancy region every year between June 15th-Sept 15th there 10 art installations to visit ("Horizons").

Skiing is about 30 minutes from the house.
